The nature, power and glory of God

I started Part One with this statement, it is worth repeating.

It should fill our hearts and souls with great joy to think we are the children of the supreme creator of the universe including this beautiful planet we call earth! He loves all of us as a father loves his children, except His love is perfect. This knowledge is breathtaking!

The Power, Knowledge and Influence of God

• Omnipotent: He has all power.

“And I heard as it were the voice of a great multitude, and as the voice of many waters, and as the voice of mighty thunderings, saying, Alleluia: for the Lord God omnipotent reigneth.” (Revelation 19: 6 in the Bible)

“ For behold, the time cometh, and is not far distant, that with power, the Lord Omnipotent who reigneth, who was, and is from all eternity to all eternity, shall come down from heaven among the children of men, and shall dwell in a tabernacle of clay, and shall go forth amongst men, working mighty miracles, such as healing the sick, raising the dead, causing the lame to walk, the blind to receive their sight, and the deaf to hear, and curing all manner of diseases.” (Mosiah 3: 5 p. 151 in the Book of Mormon)

• Omniscience: He has all knowledge: past, present and the future.

“Known unto God are all his works from the beginning of the world.” (Acts 15: 18 in the Bible)

“O the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! how unsearchable are his Judgments, and his ways past finding out!” (Romans 11: 33 in the Bible) “O how great the holiness of our God! For he knoweth all things, and there is not anything save he knows it.” (2 Nephi 9: 20 p. 74 in the Book of Mormon)

• Omnipresence: His light and influence fills the immensity of space.

“For in him we live, and move, and have our being; as certain also of your own poets have said, for we are also his offspring.” (Acts 17: 28 in the Bible) “Which light proceedeth forth from the presence of God to fill the immensity of space— The light which is in all things, which giveth life to all things, which is the law by which all things are governed, even the power of God (Doctrine & Covenants 88: 12-13 p. 166)

God is Endless, Eternal and Never Changing

• Endless and Eternal

“And God spake unto Moses, saying: Behold, I am the Lord God Almighty, and Endless is my name; for I am without beginning of days or end of years; and is not this endless?”

(Moses 1: 3 in the Pearl of Great Price)

• Alpha and Omega (first and last letter of the Greek alphabet)

Applied as descriptive names of the all-encompassing nature of Jesus Christ.

“I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end, the first and the last.”

(Revelation 22: 13 p. 1589 in the New Testament)

“I am Alpha and Omega, Christ the Lord; yea, even I am he, the beginning and the end, the Redeemer of the world.” (Doctrine & Covenants 19: 1 p. 31)

• Never Changing in One Eternal Round

“Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and today, and forever.” (Hebrews 13: 8 in the Bible)

“Listen to the voice of the Lord your God, even Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end, whose course is one eternal round, the same today as yesterday, and forever.” (Doctrine & Covenants 35: 1 p. 59)

The Patience and Mercy of the Lord

“O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, thou that killest the prophets, and stonest them which are sent unto thee, how often would I have gathered thy children together, even as a hen gathereth her chickens under her wings, and ye would not!” (Matthew 23: 37 in the Bible)

The Savior Shed Tears of Joy

“And they arose from the earth, and he said unto them: Blessed are ye because of your faith. And now behold, my joy is full. And when he had said these words, he wept, and the multitude bare record of it, and he took their little children, one by one, and blessed them, and prayed unto the Father for them. And when he had done this he wept again;” (3 Nephi 17: 20-22 p. 441 in the Book of Mormon) For a free more detailed composition on Nature of God call (231) 383-8359 or send an email [email protected].
